Inviting all mentors, new teachers, and experienced teachers that want to know more about conducting and participating in peer coaching cycles. Peer coaching provides the opportunity for educators to take charge of their own professional development, improve practice, and increase student learning. Peer coaching is a purposeful form of professional development where colleagues work together to reflect on current practices to expand, refine, and build new skills.
During this session, we will discuss how to use the coaching cycle to build capacity and empower teachers to take risks, try out new instructional strategies, and reflect with a trusted colleague. We will go through the three components of a peer coaching cycle which includes a pre-conference plan, observation/data collection, and a post-conference reflective conversation all focused on evidence of student learning. Peer coaching encourages educators to explore beliefs and practices in order to improve student learning.
